Lake McMurtry - Stillwater
I-35 to exit Stillwater, OK. Follow signs to Lake McMurtry (east of I-35). Lake is North of town, and has an extensive trail network on both the North and South sides of the lake. A short drive (or ride) is needed to get from one set of trails to the other.

- Campground - We camped at the campground close to this trail. It is secluded. There is no patrol. We camped for a week. About Wednesday someone came by and left a note on our camper saying we had to move because our campsite was reserved. We moved nobody showed up for the reserved sites through the weekend.
No showers, some sites have water
We have camped for 30 years. This is the only campgrounds on our DO NOT CAMP there list.

- north of Burris rd, East side - Singletrack Jungle! Trail is in great shape, but very overgrown in some places. Somewhat hard to tell where the trail is at times. We rode the trail north of Burris road on the east side of the lake. It was so bad getting through, we elected to ride back to the car on dirt roads back to the park entrance. Snakes and lots of bugs...this one may need some attention. The other three loops are gorgeous as usual...

- 'East side of the lake' - Great trail in central Oklahoma! I'm another Socal resident doing a tour in Oklahoma-Nam. I was so surprised to find this Mt Biker's paradise! Yesterday, we did an 11 mile loop through some of the nicest single-track covered by jungle-like canopy. The trails are well maintained, but a little overgrown do to infrequent use. Small hills, creek crossings, and an occaisional cow are all here. The trails all follow the banks of the Lake, but usually out of sight for most of the time. This is a great trail to go fast on, stay on your bike for long periods of time, and really get good at riding. Good idea to take a friend (or enemy) with you. We didn't see any other bikers yesterday at all, and the trails are a long way from civilization. Lots of water and bug spray a must.
