I am here to validate your comments
I am a LBS mechanic. Therefore, I AM the final word on all matters on this board.
If I don't like your opinion, I will bash you, your bike, and anything alse I can think of.
Don't even think of contradicting me, because I know it all. If it is out there, I have ridden it. So if I make comment about a bike, rest assured that I have ridden it hard, and put it up wet. EVERY SINGLE BIKE. I know the ins and outs of THEM ALL. Why, you might ask? Because I AM THE FINAL WORD, and I cannot be wrong. I know every bike in practically a biblical sense, that is why I so freely make comment on them,(and you) if I don't care for the brand.
So watch out, I will be watching. If I don't like what you have to say, or disagree, or think your comment might take away from my income at my Bike Shop(by way of sending someone somewhere else but a LBS) I will do everything within my power to make you look the fool, because I work at a bike shop. Therfore I AM THE FINAL WORD!

No need to reply, your adoration shall be enough.

Okay, hotshot, what is the difference between a French-thread bottom bracket and a Swiss-thread bottom bracket? The clock is ticking...

Jeez, ask him something harder than that, French and Italian-LH, British and Swiss-RH. I don't really think that was Rem.788 with the original post, just someone making fun of him.

      How about
      What is compressionless housing?
      What are hellenic stays?
      What are SIS and Positron?

      • Re: I am here to validate your comments
        Yeah you are correct.

Compressionless housing: Compresionless housing uses many inner support wires running longitudinally within an inner plastic liner. The longitudinal strands in this housing act to maintain constant housing length when the housing is curved and so prevent 'ghost' shifts when the handlebars are turned.

Hellenic stays: A frame design in which the seat stays don't go to the seat tube, but rather cross outside of the seat tube a few inches below the seat cluster, then go on to be attached to the top tube a few inches forward of the seat tube. The GT Triple Triangle design utilized this design.

SIS: shimaNO Indexing Shifting, one of the first forms to be noticed. This type of shifting utilized positive detents to shift to different gears.

Positron: utilized indexing detents in the derailleur with no return spring. You had to use a double cable one to push and one to pull.

Oh a KHS Team Breezer is not, and has never been fabricated under that name.

        what are you guys smoking.......
french threads are 35x1mm RH threads on both sides, swiss threads are 35x1mm RH threads left side and LH threads right side. You got it backwards.

Sorry I don't know more about the bike, but I've looked at a 2003 Giant for about $550, It's a hard tail with Mechanical disk brakes, I'm pretty sure it has "Black" forks with a reverse arch, Any info on this bike?

According to your reasoning, anyone that works in a bike shop is "THE FINAL WORD." If this is true, then I am also "THE FINAL WORD." I have worked several years in a shop and have experience with many different brands and models of bikes. But to say that you have ridden every single bike out there is going a little far. Any true cyclist knows that you can alter the ride characteristics of any given frame by choosing different componentry. For example, using a longer travel fork will change the head tube angle, resulting in slower, but more stable steering. The same frame with a shorter fork will have more precise steering, but will be less stable at high speeds. So unless you have ridden every single frame with every single combination of componentry, you have not ridden them all. I feel sorry for the customers that you deal with. You are full of bull$#!@ information and you mislead and condone anyone who isn't as experienced as you. You are the kind of @$$hole who gives a bad name to mountain bikers. And that is my final word.

Even worse than that...it wasn't REM 788 that posted the rude comments at the beginning of this thread. It was actually someone using his moniker. If your name is not in green (registered) then anyone can post using your name as I am doing here. Look up above, he verified that he wasn't responsible for the first post.

I do not normally participate in these types of discussions, but what exactly were you doing here? Somone on this board obviously was po'ed at him and posted the original message. I have read alot of messages here and Rem.788's were some of them. It does not match his writing style or personality shown.
Resorting to name calling and then referencing it to a reputation of a group is hypocrtical with your attitude.

It was NOT my reasoning! It was more than likely Ky Rope Rescue Volunteer who posted that. He got real miffed on a discussion on his dept. store bike vs. a real bike. then it got ugly. So the beginning post was his attempt at some kind of revenge. If however your attitude is persistant on this array of comments then you need to direct your respone to yourself. How can you talk like this and say anyone gives anything a bad name?
