Are the Jeep Freeride/Downhill bikes cool?
Hello all! I have been looking to buy either the Jeep Grand Cherokee Downhill, or the Jeep Rubicon Freeride bikes. I can't seem to find any reviews about them. The few that I have found have been by close-minded XC'ers who don't know anything about Downhilling/Freeriding. The component mix seems pretty cool (except that weird auto-brand suspension). I wrecked my Foes DHS Mono last season, and I don't have the money to replace that 3700 dollar bike. The Jeep Downhill bike is only 2700 dollars! Any feedback from downhillers who have ridden the Jeep Downhill bikes would be cool!

the only jeep bikes i've seen have been at sears, target walmart.so with that info jeep bikes are not made for freeriding and/or downhill.stay away from unknown suspension.you've ridden a quality bike why would you go backwards?anyhow is you're foes repairable? for $2700 there is a vast choice of bikes.
e.g. kona stinky deluxe '02 model retail $2400.i paid 3200 for a santa cruz bullit with the freereide kit.

Thanks for the feedback. My Foes machine is beyond repair, cracked at the lower part of the monoque frame. Actually, the Jeep bike that I am looking at is a Downhill specific machine check it out.

I wasn't awarre that Jeep bikes where at the 'mart stores.
When you check out this link you will see why I actually considered this bike. It has a pretty cool component hang. Maybe I should just sacrifice and get me an Intense M-1 frame. Anyhow, thanks for the info man.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited is definitely a downhill bike. I have not received comments specific to the Limited, but here is what one of my customers had to say about the Cherokee TSI.

Well I got my Cherokee TSI today! Took one week to the day. I got to ride it about four blocks. I love it!!! I've been riding a H____ Mountain Bike to work every day and this is like going from a Chevette to a ZR1 Vette. Love it!!! Jeff

    Later he wrote

Well I got to give my Cherokee TSI mountain bike a better workout today. I love it even more. Nice bike!! Took me a little while to figure out the shifters, but other than that no problem. I've never had a bike people stopped to look at. The guys at work love it. Had to let some of them give it a try. Everybody said it was one of the finest bikes they had ever rode. I told them about your web page, but this isn't a good time to sell bikes to people in Southern Indiana since the temp is getting down to the high 30's or lower 40's at night. Thanks a lot and have a great day....Jeff

The Jeep bikes are a little heaver than the competition because the frame tubing is thicker. However, that translates into strength. The frame carries a limited lifetime warrantee. So if you want to spend time riding instead of fixing, get a Jeep bike. The bikes are outfitted with many different component configurations (as little or as much as your budget will stand).

went to the jeep site and took a look at the dh bike it looks descent, however the fork? who makes it?the only jeep bikes i've touched were at sears and they looked along the lines of those pacific f/s,very scarry.i havent seen an ad or review in any of the bike mags.like the mercedes mountain bike for 4500.00,is it a good bike probably, but what are you paying for?the bike or the name?honda also wants in on the bike market, however mountain cycles actually makes the bike and puts a honda sticker on it.just buy the mountain cycle.personally i would go for a more established bike company.ride on!
