I ALMOST BOUGHT A TREK, BUT A FRIEND WAS SELLING A MOAB 3 FOR THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS. I LOVE THIS BIKE. IF YOU GET A CHANCE TO BUY ONE, DO IT. ITS A GREAT BIKE.

I just got myself a Trek 6500 and its awesome! Superlightweight, climbs like a mut@@@@@@@er and the Magnum R shocks are plush and light as well.If you wanna blow 750 bucks, get this bike coz its worth every penny.

DUDE, don't listen to the two morons 1,2 the Trek rules, i don't like Schwinn, they don't make bikes as good as Trek does. I have the 6500. It rules. 27 gears. Deore LX. Great bike for the money. I've tried the Schwinn Moab 3 and the Trek is for more offroading. Trust me kid, The trek would be what your looking for. You have to trust in me.

I've owed a schwinn moab 3. I cracked the cheap bike in three places. So i bought a trek 4900 and beat the crap out of it and it's still holding up.

You guys are kidding me. What year was the Moab that you cracked? '90? Either that or you need to lay off the ho-hos tubby. Trek and Schwinn both make good bikes. I will say this: you are getting screwed if you spend $750 and get a Magnum R Shock. With the Moab 3, you get a Manitou SX at least. For 2001, Schwinn equips its bikes a bit better than its class competitors. They do a good job spreading the wealth component-wise throughout the bike. However, in short, if you are beginning or just hitting the trail on the weekends, then you will do fine with either bike.

Hay I bought a Trek 6500 and it hauls ass. My bro has the the moab its a 15 inch i think and mines a 21 inch and it wieghts less. Every weekend I race my bike down hill and ive only had to replace rims. I got the 6500 for $300 brand new (work for the store, its great).

I own a trek 6500 and have for the past 2 years. The bike rocks!! My friend has a Schwinn Moab and he uses it for trials riding(Trials not trails). It is not a race bike. Go with the Trek man, it's got better components and it is set-up for the trails

Everyone who likes trek doesnt know anything about biking. The only problem i have had with my schwinn was that my drive setup. I went out and got myself some XTR and nothing has gone wrong with my bike sence then. I replaced everything shimano on my bike with shimano XTR and it runs great. Moab was made a race bike so for the person who said it wasnt a race bike knows about nothing. Trek is a horrible brand. My friend is replacing his frame (if you know what that is) because it cracked cross-county riding. Thats horrible.

My advice would be to ride both bikes as much as the bike shops will let you and make your decision that way. The two bikes have very different geometries and will fit and feel very differently when you are in the saddle. A test ride might make up your mind for you. I have a Moab 1 and it's very well spec'd and extremely fast, but it's a different animal. The Moab 1 and 2 have butted tubing throughout the frame to reduce weight and smooth out the ride, while the Moab 3 and 4 have straight-wall tubing, making them a little stiffer and heavier. Again, test-ride, and make sure to compare essential components--forks, cranksets, wheels--because you want these to last at least a little while.

Well Hello to all, my name is JAMMIN' JIM, and i ride nothing but the best , thats why i choose to ride the Schwinn Moab 3, i take this bad boy off some pretty nasty drops and it still hangs, me and my MOAB do about 100 miles a week and have no trouble at all.From past experience SCHWINN has always stood behind anything i've ever bought from them, i had several other model's and when i broke a frame i just took it back to the SCHWINN dealer and they set me up with a whole new frame ....... no charge.
So ... if any one feels that they even dare to keep up with JAMMIN' JIM on the trail with anything other than a SCHWINN... bring it on !!!!!!!

....this message is to all of you!!!!!!!!........TREK 6500 ...is the greater bike that I ride in my whole life for 750$$...is very lightweigth...has an excellent MANITOU FORKS...and the DEORE transmision workssssss...........better than other one!!!....don't compare this two bikes...just get the better one....TREK'S 6500...IS THE BEST!!!

This sounds like rednecks arguing Ford/Chevy. I have a Schwinn Moab 3 and it's served me well including racing at 24 hrs of Snowshoe. I bought it based on a friend/mountain bike freak's recommendation on the quality schwinn gives at the price. The bikes are similar quality and just up to preference. The difference is that Trek's are overpriced... seems if you buy the Trek you have a good bike, but haven't done your research.

I've got an old Moab 3 ('95) and I have beat the crap out of that thing. It still runs like a dream. Schwinn's got a lot of quality behind it.

those schwinns suck. My 1976 tricycle would beat it any day. If you dont like that than suck it!! schwinns are gay they suck the big 1!!!! The THE fender is so nice on the tri. It blocks all the sh*t that gets thrown from those knobs on the tires. This tri has been moded and ive cut the frame and inserted joints and place in the fox floater rc in the back. I've replaced the front fork with a bomber moster T and added a little razer wheelly bar. SO THIS TRI IS THE ALTIMATE DOWN HILL RACER. IT WILL KICK THAT SCHWINN'S A**
