In Search Of Torker 280
I am in the market for a Torker 280. I had one when I was a kid, but it was stolen! Mine was Black, but I am not picky between black and chrome. It doesn't have to be new, but like new please. Anyone who has one they would like to sell please email me at scott-clemenson@home.com. I am serious about this and will pay what it is worth.
Thanks in advance,

You know, I've seen at least three of those recently on ebay (within last month or two maybe). One loooked to be in new condition but it was purple. They seem to be the most prevelant Torker freestyle bikes. I used to have a 280 Air myself. They're pretty heavy though. Made from high tensile steel. The 540's were better. I'd say just keep checking ebay. The price never seemed to get too high. I think the last 280 I saw sold for $45. Not bad at all. Libertarian,
Thanks for the info. Mine was from 1982 or 83 and was light as can be. Was 13 pounds race ready. I saw a frame go for 71 bucks the other day. I don't want a Outbreak or any of those cheaper bikes, gotta find a 280 or 280 air :o) I'm not impatient am I.
Thanks again,

Yeah I've seen a bunch of those Outbreak frames on ebay too. I didn't even realize Torker was still around until I saw one of those on there. I think they're owned by Redline/SBS now. Posted by Libertarian on 06/15/01

Yeah I didn't either, I spoke with someone at Torker/Redline about the Outbreak because I considered buying one, but he said the only think similar to the 280 was the frame style and that the Outbreak was much heavier because it was made for Freestyle and Jumping... Crossing fingers I find one :o) Posted by Scott Clemenson a 27 year old Weekend Warrior riding a Hopin for a Torker 280 from Salt Lake City, Utah on 06/15/01

Scott, I have a chrome Torker 280 from the early 80's. Need to check the exact year. The stickers are scuffed and it needs new hand grips but other than that it is in great condition. Let me know if you are still in search of a bike like this and we'll go from there.
