Descending off the top

Paint-by-color

Ducking into an aspen grove

Tom, did you get us lost again?

SB - nice write-up & pics - that thin air gets me when I'm climbing just across the valley from the Whites - riding a bike up there has gotta hurt! - I have GOT to go do one of Tom's little epic rides one of these days - he always chooses great locals....

for the question below, the White Mtns. (Calif.) are on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada range...

the White's back east are brutal in winter...

Apologies for my ignorance, but are you referring to the Whites in New Hampshire? If so, props to you for doing what is arguably the scariest (in winter) place in the US. While on winter break from RISD, I did a backpack/camping trip to one of the huts. Storm came in overnight, and from 60F/sunny skies one day, the weather changed to -30F/70mph winds. Should have brought my bike -- would have gotten off the mt faster..

It looks like you should be using ropes to climb up that instead of bikes. That is a ride I'm sorry I missed out on.Next time I'll be there.
