Provincetown, Massachusetts, March 14, 2005……Registration and pledge sheets for the 5th Annual By the Sea Bike Trek will be available from Helping Our Women (HOW) in late March or immediately from the HOW website (www.helpingourwomen.org). The Trek will be held on Saturday, June 11th (rain date of June 12th) at 8am departing from the Bas Relief Park in Provincetown. This non-competitive bike ride offers cyclists a choice of three loops of increased distance through Provincetown, Truro and Wellfleet. There are two rest stops with drinks, a clearly marked route, and safety vehicles on the road during the event. The Trek ends at St. Mary of the Harbor where snacks will be available.
This event is sponsored in part by the Town of Provinetown’s Tourism Fund. Mussel Beach Health Club and Ptown Parties have already signed up as sponsors. Sponsorship information is available now by contacting the HOW office.
There is a $25 registration fee and riders are asked to raise a minimum of $100 in pledges. All proceeds benefit Helping Our Women, a non-profit community based organization providing services to women with chronic and life threatening/disabling illness on the outer Cape.
Helping Our Women presently serves 168 women with a wide variety of services including financial assistance, weekly support groups and transportation to medical appointments. Each month between 95 and 105 women receive financial assistance from HOW.
Registration and pledge sheets, as well as sponsorship information, are available by calling the HOW office at 508/487-4357 or by email at how1@capecod.net. The registration sheet is also available for download at www.helpingourwomen.org.
