Meta-Comet Trail - East Granby

Exit 40 off of interstate 91 (The Bradley Airport Exit)
Get off the Rt20 exit.

Follow Rt 20 into East granby. You will see signs for Old Newgate Prision. At the intersection of Old Newgate road and rt 20 take a right. Parking is right on the side of the road and the trail exit / head is right there.

This trail goes all the way into MA and maybe ME if it still connects that far.

  2. Meta Comet Trail - This is some of the most awesome single track I have ever encountered. It is littered with sharp rock beds and some severe elevations. It is used mostly by hikers and in some spots you have to shoulder your ride and hike it. You climb to about a 750 foot altitude where you get rewarded for your effort with a fantastic view of the valley. (Don't slip, it's a long way straight down). There is real danger on this trail and I have never found the end of it. A bonus is that it is clearly marked and there is only one way in and one way back so it is hard to get lost. Bring plenty of tubes, I have flated both tires twice on the return trip down which is more like a DH freeride than a cross country.

Bring a riding buddy along, or at least a cell phone just in case. Not many riders are out here at once. Only the die hard junkies will try this ride!
